On Friday, December 16th, Propel Braddock Hills High School will hold it's 1st ever Challenge Day. This is another measure to combat bullying in school and to educate our students about the dangers of bullying. Students will be presented with information from community experts on sexual harrassment, race issues, poverty info, and cyberbullying. In the afternoon the entire student body will participate in a discussion with guest panelists. Student interview about the immportance of Challenge Day Diane Dahm-Martin and Dave Wingerson from Women's Place This presentation will feature different forms of sexual harassment that can happen in school. Students will be real life examples and discuss what behaviors they believe to be harassment. Discussions will center around consent in sexual relationships so that students will leave with an understanding of when someone has or has not given consent and when consent is impossible to give. Matt Strine-Propel Schools Director of Instructional Technology This presentation is designed to bring student up to speed on the Internet-related issues facing adolescents today that may impact their lives. It covers a basic overview of the online technologies utilized by children and teens, and provides numerous real-world examples of cyberbullying that help to stress the seriousness of this problem.
Laura Miller a.k.a SECRET AGENT L Secret Agent L will talk candidly about how the Secret Agent L Project got started and how it's grown over the past two years. She will talk about the importance of "intentional acts of kindness," as opposed to "random acts of kindness." Laura will also talk about the importance of serving others and what that might look like. The goal is to to show students that we're actually more alike than different and that extending our hearts and hands to one another and for one another is a huge and important step toward peace.
